Make sure your data tells its story

The project, the quarter or the month (or whatever) is done, and there it is: the results presentation! We probably have been there. Excel sheets are pasted into PowerPoint, graphs are made and the result is a huge deck which everyone has to sit through. One chart after another, and another, and another. One slide after another full with text on data, and data, and data. Even sometimes a text balloon flies in to explain some point in a chart. Continue reading

Steve Jobs raised the bar for presentations

Steve Jobs passed away today. He was just 56 years old and still his dead, although he had cancer, was a little unexpected. As I stated couple of times I have no Apple products at home and still aren’t going to buy one. It’s not that I don’t like the products, it’s more that I think they are overpriced and the Android OS, for instance, suits me more (for now). Continue reading

Iphone 4S: Cook never pulled the anticipated rabbit out of his hat

Shares of Apple (AAPL) took a brief nosedive on the afternoon of the 4th of October 2011, down over 5% after the much-hyped “Let’s Talk iPhone” event at the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, CA. The world was awaiting an iPhone 5, and instead met the iPhone 4S, a souped up version of the latest model released more than a year ago. Whenever I give a presentation on presentation design I always tell people to be passionate when presenting and to be passionate about the topic. By throwing in your passion the audience will feel that what you are telling really matters, at least it does to you. People sharing something with passion can be an addiction to others.
